Have any other transfer students received acceptance letters?

I’m a transfer applicant, and although the admission notification date listed on the website is 01 May, I just got an email saying that my admission status was updated. I’m really hoping that this turns out to be real, but I’m just worried that it might be a mistake or something since it’s so much earlier than it’s supposed to be. I sent an email, and I’m going to call tomorrow as soon as the office opens, but I wanted to check here and see if anybody else had heard back / knew anything about why this might be happening so early.

For whatever it’s worth, I was just being paranoid; they are indeed starting to send out transfer acceptances now. it sounds like it’s going to happen on something of a rolling basis up until the final notification date.

I got a similar email, and when I checked my application portal, there was an update that said I was accepted. I’m not sure if my experience helps you at all, but I hope you got in as well!

I did get in, yeah! Got a really nice aid package as well, all things considered, tho it’s not clear if it’s enough yet. But I’m optimistic! What about you? Are you definitely going?

I’m not sure if I’ll be attending. I also got a pretty awesome aid package, but I’m considering a few other schools as well. However, I’m 99.99999% sure that Bard would be an amazing fit for me. What about you?

Well, I fully planned to attend (had accepted and everything), but then I got into Amherst, which I really wasn’t expecting, and got much better aid from them. I like both schools a lot, though I think Bard culturally would have been a slightly better fit for me. I’m not in a position to turn down the better aid offer, though, so that made the decision easy.

What about you? Did you end up deciding on Bard?

@russtransfer - Might be too late for this now, but if you feel that Bard will be a better fit for you than Amherst, you can approach Bard with your financial aid offer from Amherst and ask if they would increase your aid, because you feel you have to go to Amherst with the better offer, but would choose Bard, all things being equal. Of course, only do this if you truly would choose Bard over Amherst, if money were not the issue.

@SpiritManager Thank you for the suggestion! I actually did try that, but we had already appealed several times and they said there was nothing they could do even though I’d received more money from Amherst. Bard really did give us a very generous aid package, too, so it was hard to expect more; Amherst was just able to outdo it because they’re better endowed, I suppose. All things being equal financially I would have had a lot of thinking to do, and I probably would have chosen Bard, but I’m still very happy with how things turned out.

@russtransfer - Congratulations on your great choices. I’m sure you’ll have a wonderful experience at Amherst - and, you’re probably right - Amherst’s significant endowment gives them a flexibility that isn’t possible for Bard - make sure you take advantage of all those extra opportunities they may offer because of that, too, like funding for summer internships and travel :). Good luck in the years ahead!

@russtransfer, I actually will be attending Bard this fall, but congratulations on getting into Amherst, and I hope things go well for you!
