LOL @ nukchebi. about parents

that makes me feel better now, kinda :) But thing is, i looked at the CC threads with the answers and got some wrong, so probably my predictions would be more accurate.

How is the ACT easier?
Is the english/cr/vocab part easier? (thats my weakness)
[/quote]

There is no vocab. The english section basically tests grammar and punctuation; the reading section is really simple.

ooh thats good.
I hear there's 'science' or something?

I should take the ACT 'for fun'.

after giving it a long hard thought, i decided i am not going to cancel my scores. Ill just accept whatever i get but work like crazy to improve. Also going to take advice and see how well it goes.

If i have learned one thing from today, it is: Never have moderatly high goals, becuase if you do and you fail, you might not be able to recover. Ever

One chinese girl in my high school who sat next to me in class tried to commit suicide when she got denied form Harvard, Princeton and Yale, all in the same day. Now i know that i'm not alone in feeling. Not that i am at the suicidal level.

....dang thats harsh. about the HYP rejections. Was she well qualified?

dont cancel your scores! you still have other chances, and who knows? maybe you're in for a surprise(:
I was going to cancel my scores in Jan cos I felt I 'failed' the CR, but overall, I got 2070, which isn't too bad.

The is sort of a shame, but I would assume her parents deserve a portion of the blame.

YEah ACT science is killer. Brought my composite down by a couple of points :(.

Hey, I'm asian and my dad expects so much from me too. We are on the same boat here. March, my dad expected a 2300 from me and I got less than a 2000 which really ****ed him off. I had a really bad test day yesterday and my test scores would probably once again look like crap. But hey, what can you do about it?

I'm planning on studying over the summer to retake the test in Oct. I will confirm that colleges do take the highest score from each section. My teacher called 10 top schools and they all said they go down the column (as test scores are organized in columns) and take the highest from each category. I'll be lying if I said that test scores weren't important as they are VERY important; however, it is not the end of your life if you scored poorly. Other things factor in. Doing extremely well does not gaurentee admittance to colleges.

If you still feel bad, you can pm me. Remember, I'm just like you, an asian with strict parents and I know how it feels. Its okay. Cheer up!

some asian parents can be quite annoying. that was what my parents were like years ago. now, they've become more lenient on me. mostly b/c they know that i'm trying. and plus, they know that i'm definitely NOT good at taking standardized tests. i remember the first time i took the SAT, my hands were shaking like crazy. i literally couldn't hold the pen. yesterday, i had massive diarrhea before leaving...oh yuck.

but such as life. lol i was just talking to my dad the other day (hehe) about how we could switch lives. haha. and everyone just laughed.

the SAT's are not as easy as parents (ESPECIALLY asian parents) think. i think that when ppl r nervous, they are more likely to do worse than what they are actually capable of. that's what happens to me to some extent

Which is why your parents stressing you do good on the test before the test is always conducive to lowering your test scores.

hey don't give up.
im asian too, and sometimes you just gotta say **** THAT ****!
i know its hard with all that pressure, but don't lose self confidence. Even if your parents are giving you that speech, just say w/e to their comments, and just work harder. In the end, its all about the mental strength
