Have colleges already made their decisions?

While colleges have assorted dates for notifying applicants of their decisions, do most of the schools already know who they are accepting? It seems a little late in the game already ...

they do, they just want to torture us by asking us to wait, I hate when that happens …

With most selective colleges, there are plenty of students who they quickly decide should be admitted, and others they quickly decide should be denied. I wish they let those people know before April 1. However, there are typically many applicants in the middle that are debated and discussed right up to the deadline.

In other case, I heard about an admissions officer who cried because she had successfully argued for a month for the admission of a bunch of kids who she thought were really special, and then a decision came down from above to reduce the number of offers, and their names were all stricken at the last minute.

This is a guess: Most of the top 50 colleges and Universities have allocated about 90% of their classes. The last 10% are the matter of much discussion in committee each day. I should think that even those schools that announce on their website on March 30 at 5pm would be done except for the last 1% by Mar. 25.

Guidance counselor received an email from one of my daughters schools saying that they misplaced a teacher recommendation and she should resend. She will not be penalized. Does this mean they are on the fence about her? Less than a month to go.

I am in a similiar situation My college Columbia doesn’t have my SAt reports and I am anxious. CB said they sent the report…

Columbia hasn’t gotten my SATs, either. I get the feeling they put me in the “rejected” pile without a thought because of that, but everyone keeps telling me to “be positive.” Haha I guess we’ll see…

How late can they possibly let you know if you get in or not? My son is still waiting to hear from FSU and UCF.

I know. Thats how I feel too. I am afraid of the R word too.

Western Ky University Honors College posted on their blog 2/21/11 that they had made decision on 90% of applications. Our D must be in the 10% - it’s been two weeks and still no word. It doesn’t sound good…

“Guidance counselor received an email from one of my daughters schools saying that they misplaced a teacher recommendation and she should resend. She will not be penalized. Does this mean they are on the fence about her? Less than a month to go.”

The answer seems quite obvious to me. they have gone to the trouble to ask for more information that they are lacking. For what other reason that to use it for evaluation?
