Ok, so i got into wash u and boston college, but waitlisted at georgetown and vanderbilt, and rejected at northwestern. im still waiting on brown and duke. do you think its still possible that i get into either one of these schools?

washu had a 6% acceptance rate this year...that is higher than both duke's and brown's this year...so yea, you have a shot.

bobbobbob: washu would only have a 6% acceptance rate if they accepted about the same number of people that ended up attending (100% matriculation rate). since the actual matriculation rate is much lower, they accept more than double the students they plan on enrolling in the fall... so from what i remember their acceptance rate was still estimated at above 20% this year.

regardless, to answer the original question - colleges look for different things. you definitely have a chance at brown and duke... it just depends on if they feel you're a good match for the class they're building. you never know what's going to happen these days, admissions are crazy.

ya i think that the percentage was about 18-19%. it doesn't give me much comfort, though, because all i can think of is how shady they are in the admissions process. i feel like i only got in because i wasn't perceived as using them as a safety and didn't have super-stellar grades. kids in my class who showed interest (and had stronger overall applications than me) didn't get in, probably because the committee knew that they would get into other schools.

back up to the first page...

6 % haha washu....

that was the funniest thing that i ever heard today..

bump one last time for more opinions

Actually WashU's yield is about 29-30%, so they have to accept about 3.5 times as many students as their actual freshman class size.
