Have I already screwed myself over? Really worried...

1 C sophomore year probably won’t be a huge deal. Strive for straight As junior year. If you can get straight As, they might not even pay attention to the C

An upward grade trend is something a college will definitely want to see so keep up the hard work!

The inflated acceptance rate is only an illusion. Early decision applicants are generally stronger because they feel that their application is already strong enough without senior year statistics. Thus, the 30% acceptance rate does not apply individually - just to the whole, stronger applicant pool. They don’t admit anyone who they wouldn’t have admitted in regular decision.

Ivies generally don’t have you declare a major until the end of freshman year so it doesn’t matter what you want to go into. They know most students change majors within the first year, so it is impractical to hold an English major to a different standard than a math major because after a year, those two may have switched places! So your scores should be good across the board.

All of the Ivies have excellent placement into medical and law schools. You can also look at Columbia and Brown Universities. I got into both of those and they are excellent schools. They offer great financial aid (like all of the Ivies) and try their best to make sure money isn’t an issue if you should choose to attend. For some people, it may be even cheaper than a state school! Columbia is in NYC and offers great internship opportunities in any area you could imagine.

^Cornell requires you to apply directly into a specific college

99.99% of high schoolers (including those who get into ivies) know nothing about passion. you don’t have to know what your purpose is for the rest of your life or something, the point is to do ECs you genuinely enjoy and excel at
