Today was the deadline for postmarking UCI and UCSB appeal letters. My house a 15 minute drive from the nearest post office (which closes at 6 pm). I cannot legally drive (I know, embarrassing), so I had to wait for my mother to come home from work at 5:30 pm. We arrive promptly at the post office at around 6:05 pm where to my dismay do I see an empty parking lot and a close post office.

I read the mailbox where I drop mail off in and they pick up mail at 12 noon and 5 pm everyday. Unfortunately that makes me too late to get my letter postmarked on April 15th, 2013 which makes my appeal letter a day late. Is there a chance the universities may give me a chance? Should I call?

I know I should have mailed them earlier but I had a lot to regret on my personal statements, I didn't want the same thing to happen to my appeals seeing as they're a second chance (albeit a extremely lower chance) of me getting into my dream school.
