There is a news that has spread. which claims that US universities have stopped offering scholarships to foreign students getting admission through SAT scores...

IS that true>??

and does anybody know how to apply to colleges through SAT scores?

are SAt scores enough for a foreign student to get admission in a good university? And does the choice of subject depend on your SAT score?

Please reply fast..

and i've heard this new rule of NO SCHOLARSHIPS applies to students who will be taking SAT in the year 2009 onwards!

It is hard to respond to your posts because you are telling us about a rumor, and it seems that in the re-telling of the "news," some concepts were mixed up.

The majority of US colleges require applicants to submit an SAT or ACT score. Selective schools require a higher score than non-selective schools.

All US colleges require more than just an SAT score for admission. You have to submit your grades, an application and, in some instances, other test scores (SAT subject tests) and letters of recommendation, among other things.

----> You must go to each school's website and look in the Admissions section for the requirements. Every school is different.

Regarding scholarships, that is a huge subject. Schools give scholarships to certain students who meet certain standards--their SAT score could be one standard for a merit scholarship. Private organizations give scholarships. States give scholarships to students attending state schools. There is no automatic scholarship granted to a young person just because of his or her SAT score. There is a National Merit Scholarship recognition program that awards scholarships based on PSAT scores and other factors like grades; however, it is not available to international students unless they are studying in US high schools and meet other requirements.

----> Financial aid for all students is highly regulated, more so for international students. You must research what each college or university will offer to international students and how you can qualify. A good place to learn more is this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/151609-international-student-aid.html

thnx fr ur help! :)
