Hi, I was wondering if any of you guys could help me out and point out some universities that provide merit based scholarships. I have a total of 6 A’s and 2 B’s in my IGCSE’s. I am going to write the SAT (for the first time) on the 3rd of December. I’m in my last year of A-levels. I understand that there are probably several universities that do provide merit based scholarships, but i would like you guys to list some that arent too competitive, given that i dont have a 4.0 GPA.
My parents would be able to pay about $8000/9000 so please keep this in mind. Thank you so much for your time.
Post when you have the actual SAT score results.
when are you planning to start college? If it is fall 2017, you will miss the application deadline for significant merit awards which is usually December 1 or earlier.
Some colleges will allow you to apply and will accept the December SAT score…but really…that is pretty late for someone who is applying for Fall 2017, in my opinion.
Do you have a back up college plan in your own country?
Yea, i got 2 backups in my own country, 1 of which i will get in for sure. You got any good suggestions for uni’s i could apply to? One’s which would give some form of merit based scholarship?
It is impossible to give you any suggestions of colleges here that will offer you guaranteed merit aid without a SAT or ACT score.
Please answer my questions…
Are you going to be entering college in fall 2017?
How much merit aid do you need?
I’m sorry i didnt reply to those questions earlier. Yes, i will be entering in fall 2017. As for merit, i would i would like full tution or atleast 75%. As for SAT score, i will probably be only applying to the if i get 1350.
You need to keep a close eye on deadlines. Many schools that offer merit awards that are good ones, require admission applications that are submitted by December 1. Some are in November. You need to look carefully and make sure you don’t miss the application deadlines.
Also, you need to see what the latest date for the SAT or ACT IS for the schools for these scholarships. While some will acceot the December scores, it is very possible that others won’t.
I know you are an international, but most kids here take these tests much earlier than December for the first time.
Alright will do, thank you for all your help!
