I applied before the deadline and I’m wondering if they’ve sent any information. So far there hasn’t been much of a timeline, and UH isn’t the most helpful when it comes to answering my questions. I was hoping a Tier One Scholar or someone familiar with the process could help.

“Update December 2017: The University of Houston has extended the Fall 2018 priority deadline for scholarship consideration from November 15, 2017 to January 3, 2018. As a result, the Tier One Invitational, originally scheduled for January 13, 2018, has been cancelled. However, we would still like the opportunity to meet Tier One candidates and to introduce them to the University of Houston. Competitive candidates should plan to attend one of the following on-campus prospective student events: Honors College Open House on January 25, 2018 or February 24, 2018; or Cougar Preview on February 24, 2018. We have already recorded the attendance of candidates who participated in Cougar Preview on October 21 or November 11, or the Honors College Open House on November 1.”
… only the Honors College Open House on February 24 was actually on February 20, last night. I attended with my D. I get the impression that Hurricane Harvey impacted the beginning of the timeline and is having a ripple effect that’s left them doing the best they can to keep up.
Easy to say, I know, but hang in there!
D emailed them and was informed Tier One recipients wil be notified in late March.
@incurablycurious & @SteveC …
What do you stats look like?
Thanks, @Big Rob, good info.
D has a 34 ACT and 101.6 GPA, weighted. Eight APs, most others pre-AP, except for band, choir, and some graduation requirements for which there is no weighted option here. ECs mostly music.
Good luck to your D and to @incurablycurious
31 ACT, 3.8 UW GPA, lots of ECs and leadership/community service stuff
Any word on acceptance of Tier One scholarships?
My D did not receive the Tier One. I was told they significantly cut the number of scholarships given out this year. However, she did receive the Terry Foundation full-ride scholarship and will be attending Sam Houston State University in Fall 2018.
