Have we talked about Netflix changes?

Yes, lots of the early adopters who would may have jumped ship long ago (if not for the kids / friends) were sharing. That was many years of clicks for Netflix. They definitely are gonna cut down on sharing. They may or may not increase revenue.

Well for whatever reason we made it about two weeks after my daughter signed in on her tv in a different household (which I think I accidentally made the primary household) and now tonight MY tv wonā€™t let me watch! Iā€™ll have to deal with this tomorrow- Iā€™ll have to look up what plan I even have and see how/if we can somehow save a couple dollars by watching ads or something if we add her. She has strep throat so I donā€™t have the heart to bother her with it tonight!

Anyone have any luck with any additional user solution?

I logged in an see Iā€™m currently paying $15.99 :hushed: for a standard plan with out adds. I can add her for another $7.99/month? But also I could switch to standard with ads for $6.99/month and she could get her own similar plan so weā€™d be paying less than the current $15.99.

They make it sound like standard with ads gets you access to MOST shows - not the full catalog - what the heck does that mean?! LOL. Iā€™m annoyed!

I have the 7.99 plan with ads. The only thing I havenā€™t been able to access is some very old movies. Every new series and release Iā€™ve been able to view.

Started a new series on the Tour de France. Ala the FS1 series. So good! But then I love the tour!

Do the ads come in the middle of the show like on Hulu? I have the latter, and ads every ten minutes or so are incredibly distracting when youā€™ve gotten used to none.

Some shows have no ads but the majority do. Beginning, and throughout the show

My son has shared his account with us (actually my husband has been paying for it for a couple years now). Son tried to set it up so our house was primary, but something got messed up. Husbandā€™s profile disappeared which made him rather cranky. BUT, he signed in a day or so later and itā€™s back. Hope it stays that way. We used to pay 14.99, and now I donā€™t know what total will be.

They make it pretty complicated and not super clear. Maybe I should just get Premium or whatever and have 3 households on it (I think it allows for that?) and have 2 of my kids just pay a portion.

I wouldnā€™t be upset about the costs if we didnā€™t have cable! But H insists on keeping cable/phone/internet at nearly $330 month! For what?!!!

Even with Premium, youā€™d have to pay $7.99/mo each to add two households ($35.97 total), so it would be cheaper for everyone to get their own Basic account for $29.97 total (or $20.97 with ads).

All the plans will allow you to use A plan when you travel???

With basic only one supported device at a time - with Standard w/ ads two supported devices at a time (so if H wanted to watch on his tv, and I on mine)

The changes seem to be working for Netflix so far. Netflix sign-ups have spiked to levels even higher than occurred during COVID ā€“ A First Look At The Impact of Netflixā€™s Password Sharing Crackdown - Antenna Blog . Netflix stock is up 43% so far this year and 25% in the past month.

I am not currently subscribed to Netflix, so no issues for me, so far. Rather than subscribe to a single streaming service continuously like Netflix, I rotate through different subscribers. Once I catch up on the content I like from one subscriber, I switch to a different one. I find this is lower cost and provides more content I enjoy. When I do rejoin Netflix, Iā€™ll be more concerned about whether Netflix has changed their VPN policies than password sharingā€¦

My son doesnā€™t live with us, and has been a user on our account for the past several years. So far, he hasnā€™t had any trouble using Netflix, so Iā€™m not sure when this crackdown is going to happen for us. I donā€™t remember ever getting an email about it either. If they do crack down and heā€™s no longer able to log in, we will probably add him as an additional user, but heā€™ll pay for it. We already subscribe to the Premium plan so that we can get the Ultra HD (4K) streaming.

Last night I (primary account owner) got a note saying someone in Kansas was trying to sign in to Netflix. I used to get these messages all the time when daughterā€™s boyfriend was traveling and trying to sign in. Sent notes to my daughters and one said she was at her home in colorado trying to sign in. The text message said to sign in, so I did, but it never gave me any way to give permission for her to be on the account. It showed on my account that Iā€™d signed in on two different TVs and my laptop recently and that sheā€™d signed in last Thursday Donā€™t know if thatā€™s true or not, or if the date was wrong and she was just trying to sign in last night.

Iā€™m not sure they have the kinks aired out yet. I donā€™t know where the ā€˜Kansasā€™ came from.
