Have you ever heard of colleges combining the best of ACT and SAT?

I know it is common for schools to take the combined best math and verbal of SAT or best ACT scores but I was wondering if you have heard of them taking the combined best between SAT and ACT, so they would take for instance your math ACT because it is better than the math SAT but take your verbal SAT because it is higher than ACT verbal/english?

No. They're different tests and they cover different material with different approaches. You really can't compare them directly.

I am aware of only one college that mixes and matches the two tests: Rose-Hulman. It uses the math and English on the ACT to mix with the math and verbal on the SAT (using highest from either test). Note that it ignores the reading, science and composite score of the ACT for admission purposes.
