I got an email today from Cheryl Sprang that told me to call ASAP so that they can make sure the arrangements are out of the way. I missed her though because I did not get home today until 2:15 PM Pacific time which means that over in New Hampshire Cheryl was probably halfway home....now I gotta wait until next Monday to make my plans. How bout u guys?

Just curious--is D sponsoring your trip? and by sponsoring I mean, full expenses paid?

Do we have to register or can we just come as long as we find a place to stay?

Dartmouth is picking up my tab for Dimensions (I'm a highly recruited URM, and they've been after me for months).

I haven't called in yet King, because Dartmouth had to figure out whether they were going to pay for my plane fare or not (since they did it once already).

By the way, that Blitz mail business is sooooooooo fast. I e-mailed Cheryl and she responded within half a minute (i'm not exaggerating).

Cheryl told me 3 weeks ago that I don't have to pay nothin'. She said that any one who applied for Need-based aid will most likely (don't you just hate that word 'likely'?) be taken care of.

I'm pretty sure that if you go to Dimensions on your own dime without officially getting invited they will be fine with it if you've been admitted ED or otherwise.

kb541010, you have a Blitz account? or can anybody email them folks up dare?

No, I don't have a blitz account. The e-mails she sent to me went at the speed of light to the nth power

I beleive that part of your transportation cost to Dimensions is subsidized (it is not totally free especially because the airline tickets tend to be non-refundable Dartmouth will ask that you pay a nominal fee to insure you attend). I know that my daughter came from NYC and they had to pay $75 in transportation costs. Your room and meals are no the school.

Raspberry, maybe you can contact the admissions office 1-800-860-1294 (Cheryl Sprang is probably handling this for everyone) let her know that you would like to attend, you have a host and find out if you can get a discount rate on transportation.

I don't know who would be coming from NYC, LI, Westchester County, or NJ but Dartmouth will have buses to bring people from these areas up to Dimensions. Last year they pulled picked up and dropped off at Penn Station (so that it was centrally located to the LIRR, NJ Transit, Metro North).

oh, so THAT's what blitzing is! i've been scratching my head over that for about a week now. I'm like "Doesn't that have to do with...football??"

ETA: wait a minute, sybbie, those buses from NYC are paid for BY Dartmouth?!?!?

scratches head wondering what ETA means

For a person with over 2,000 posts, you'd think I would know that...

hahahaha. ETA = Edited To Add :)

LOL ETA: speaking of blitz, Barroom Blitz is playing on the TV, how odd

Dartmouth paid the bulk of the cost but each students paid approx $75 last year for the trip to Dimensions (cheaper than Greyhound & Amtrak). She said they had a great itme on the bus because it was another opportunity to get to know her class memebers. She is still friends with some of the kids that she rode up with last year.

They also had buses for the DOC trips

haha that's incredible! my interviewer also mentioned befriending people on the bus rides, i was like "why am i not surprised?"

and wow, 75. that's less than I paid for a round trip to Martha's Vineyard by bus, including the ferry, and I thought THAT was a good deal lol
