Have you heard of internationals paying in full?

doctor.......

this indeed is a surprise....my friend goes to a private school in Delhi and all the kids who pay full from there are kids of businessmen, politicians, ministers etc

unfortunately, I will have to pay full fee if I got in those top ones like Princeton
But its actually cheaper than English private boarding schools which Im now attending

Think before you talk, OK? NOT ALL Chinese students are rich, NOT ALL of them are dumbs.

I am a Chinese student myself, and I need financial aid to study in the States. In fact I know many more undergraduate students on aid (quite a few on full FA) than those who pay the tuition all by themselves, and I would NEVER,EVER assume that those who do not need financial aid are dumbs. For those who do not need aid, yes I have to admit that they are rich, but does being rich necessarily make them dumbs? It's their own choice to pay all the costs, and it's not something to be shamed of to be rich, I suppose?

Note that financial aid is not merit scholarship--it's simply based on need, on your family's finanical situation, but NOT how outstanding you are. I see from you previous posts that you've started the application process quite early, cracking all the exams even though you knew little English at the beginning--I'm really impressed by your determination and ambition, and I believe you are just as outstanding as any out there--but would you please think twice before you call others dumbs?

I don't know why you would have the impression that Chinese students are dumbs, but if any Chinese student has made you feel bad, I'm so sorry and I hope you won't judge all Chinese students based on what you have heard or seen. OK, there are all kinds of people here in China--nice and friendly ones, and stone-hearted and disgusting ones as well, but I'm pretty much sure this is the case in each and every country in the world, and Mongolia being no exception?

If I'm not much mistaken, you listed this as one of your significant awards? It's obvious that Peking University is a Chinese university, with most its students being Chinese, but if it's a university filled with dumbs, I bet you won't list an award received from such an institution in your stats, am I right?

Hey i am sorry Budweiser. I wanted to say "most of them". Actually, in that time i was so angry. I couldn't stand the fact that a lot Chinese students attend school in US without any exam, burden and process etc...

hoho boy now u're asking for it....if u have the balls, post your stats and watever lousy university/CC you got into (i wont be surprised if you didnt get into any)....this chinese here is going to own your posterior

sorry but we're way above your league pal...its beneath us to take the same exam as you

As a matter of fact, you can see a lot of students in US universities. Most of them just pay the money for ESL program and transfer into schools. No exam.

^ thats seriously a bad joke....there are tons of hard-working chinese americans and gifted chinese internationals who are in the top schools....many of them attend on full aid, even for many whom are not, their parents used to be impoverished and strived hard to provide a better future for their children....who the hell are you to denigrate their efforts?

i'm not sure what kind of environment you grew up in/or horrible college experience you went thru that resulted in such a warped worldly view....but you honestly need to grow up pal

oops...so I guessed it...but I still want to say that MOST of us are hard-working, but yes, there are some out there who are really really rich, and attend school in the US without "burden".

In fact those guys do take the TOEFL...but not the SAT. You might want to know something: if you happen to know any Chinese students like the ones you have mentioned, they do not attend a descent school, right? They won't learn anything more valuable than messing around and falling asleep in classes even if they do manage to graduate from their schools, they are not able to get into any good graduate schools with such records--money will not work this time. They will pay.

I'm sorry you were so angry with a certain, or maybe some Chinese students, but I'd love to assure you that most Chinese students are hard-working people, nice and friendly. :)

btw, I think we can get off this topic now...It's not so pleasant anyway. =)

Yeah. You're right.

OK. Let stop it. I was rude, i didn't think too much before i wrote. Now i know that some Chinese students are diligent and affable.

<-------------------- thats without doubt =)

sry for the outburst, that was so not affable of me....but i'm fiercely loyal to my race

CradleOfFilth was just being jealous
But complaining like this is simply pathetic. The world is meant to be unfair. You'd better live with da fact.
People with more priviledged background can achieve better if they take advantage of it. I know a lot of Chinese students in UK who lead very extravagant life. But at the same time, many of they attend great schools like Imperial, LSE, Oxbridge etc . Undeniably, there r also people who buy degrees and waste their time.

.... Ok, getting back to the relevant topic.
I am NOT paying in full. In fact, my family probably can't pay even half the tuition in the upper-schools.

PS: I've heard that int'ls paying full tuition actually qualifies as a minor hook in most upper-univs that aren't need-blind to int'ls. I am referring to places like UofChicago, NU, Duke, UPenn, CMU, NYU, and even Stanford. (All of which, btw, I found out that admission for int'ls needing FinAid is about 1/5th of those int'ls who DO NOT need FinAid... At Stanford, for example, int'ls asking FinAid have a 3% change of admission (last year, 35 out of 1000+ applicants), which non-FinAid-Int'ls have a better-than-average chance of admission even compared with domestic applicants)

Don't you know, Chinese students are so rich, also they are dumbs

[/quote]

uhhhhhhh...........got anything to back that statement up?

lol what are "dumbs" .

i can actually back that statement up........there are several chinese kids living in Indonesia whose parents are wealthy business people, and these kids pretty much fail at academics...however, they go to community college in the US and come back home and inherit their parents' businesses

Now i changed my mind, at least they are contributing money for money-needed students.

whos the joker quag_mire whos looking to start another fight here?

as I said, many chinese students are hardworking and outstanding students and pardon me but a huge load of them can easily pawn your posterior

besides, failing at academics doesnt equate to dumb....each of them probably has more business acumen or personal skills than you and your whole bunch of cronies combined

longbowmen dont get your panties in a bunch....all i said was that they fail at academics...i know for a fact that they will make good businessmen/women and are really smart...all i was doing was making the point that many wealthy chinese kids in indonesia do poorly in academics because they dont see it as a priority...they go to community college or some other unremarkable college in the US, and come back and take over their parents business and rake in the millions......for the purposes of college admisisons, im pretty sure failing at academics will qualify one for the definition of "dumb"

lol, and longbowmen, just so you know, my "cronies" that you refer to are outperforming your cronies in many areas here in the US...lol im sure they're outperforming your cronies in asia too...
