have you received your orientation/ electric sheep book yet?

i haven't received mine& am wondering whether i was supposed to by now

I have and I live in NJ if that means anything.

dang it. i live in ny, so i should have received it then.
alright, thanks :frowning:
does it contain srsly important stuff other than android?

Study questions, you have to write an essay on one that they enter into some contest. But worst case scenario you buy the book yourself and get a look at the questions from someone. The rest of the stuff isn’t particularly useful. The orientation schedule is probably online, otherwise I’m sure you’ll get another when you arrive on campus, probably. The student handbook wasn’t really that interesting IMO.

the box contains:

1.) welcome letter
2.) a family orientation guide
3.) a student orientation guide
4.) a welcome student book (info about cornell, safety, etc)

Orientation website: [Cornell University Orientation](<a href=“Tatkon Center for New Students | Student & Campus Life | Cornell University”>Tatkon Center for New Students | Student & Campus Life | Cornell University)

contains 2+3 .

they have al

I got this like 2 weeks ago.

could any kindhearted soul post the study questions online?

there are a lot of factors that make have contributed to my delayed orientation packet:
-the fact that i moved& changed my address less than two weeks ago
…actually, that’s the only reason i can come up with.
adding to the problem, i am currently overseas, and tried to find android at the bookstore, but none of the stores carried it :(

looks like ill have to get it from amazon& pay an arm and a leg for it to ship all the way over here in time…sigh

none of the orientation stuff was particularly helpful?

oh, also, when do we sign up for the FWS?
along w/ our classes or sometime later?

I believe these are the questions, but I’m not positive, as I haven’t received my box either. :frowning:

FWS sign-ups are separate from the rest of our classes:

^ You can view the courses/times/professors here. :)

or you could just not read it and say you never got it

haha, i don’t want to start off the wrong foot :P

@icicle-
thank you so much for the question& fws sites!
i’m glad to see i’m not the only one orientationpacketless…

I got mine and I’m in India. You really should look into where your package is.

So when do we have to write this essay?

Hey… I just got my package, but it looks like someone’s opened my box before (the seal’s broken, one side of the box is torn as if someone tried opening it the wrong way). My pamphlets and guidebooks look used with weird stains on them. =__=;; Did this happen to anyone else?

hmm… don’t know what happened to yours, Looseleaf, but as long as you can read it, it should be fine. lol.

i have not received mine yet (I live in the US), and it’s not like i’ve moved recently or anything. in fact, i’ve actually received their family package or w/e. the cornell website says to call them if you still haven’t received the big orientation packed by the 23rd…

:'( then what? maybe they try to send it to me again and i’ll prob get it in august… how am i supposed to read the book, write an essay, and think up of answers for the study questions all within a few days before i leave for orientation!!! /end spazz attack

Ugh… But the items (especially the pamphlets) look so gross I barely want to touch them. >__<

I think they would ship it fast for you if that’s the case :)

There isn’t anything super important from that pamphlet, so you don’t have to read it :)

You would need to write it and turn it in at the end of the discussion section during orientation week.

essays sounds interesting& the contest thing seems to add to the fun even tho
i prob. won’t win anything
if only i had that darn book.

oh and another thing: does anyone else have a sign that says they owe
cornell $26,438.00?
because this really isn’t what i signed up for…really not…really, really really not…
i got my fin. aid. packages& everything but that number is subconsciously stressing
me out.

If you get fin aid, and the fin aid covers pretty much everything, don’t worry about it. It’d be gone in August. If you go to the student center, you should be able to see when the fin aid is reimbursed  but, I just have to say that you DID sign up for the 26,438  it’s the tuition fee + insurance + housing + dining + etc :D

student center is always late on the amount to pay. check the netpay site for the real stuff

No worries. I’m certain you’ll give back an order of magnitude higher number to Cornell once you become a wealthy alum.
