Did anyone else not receive it yet in the mail? I seem to be the LAST one as always to get ANYTHING from Cornell in the mail. I'm getting angry b/c I want to know what the assignment is for god sakes! I read the non-Cornell edition many times.

it's just a book chill.

Basically you're just going to have to write a short essay, 1-2 pages, about the book. The top 10 gets 200 bucks.

Chill out man. It's summer. Relax.

I haven't received it!!!

me neither, and im usually about average wen it comes to how long i have to wait (some ppl still wait for net id and everything, so im lucky to have everything but the book so far)

It still didn't come today... bump! Any success in obtaining the packet?

Yeah...the package was neat. Along with Things Fall Apart and study questions, there's this 250 page book regarding everything you'd need to know about Cornell, as well as the orientation booklet (which can be found online at newstudentprograms.cornell.edu I think).

bumpidy bump

Is that what you all have to read? I think I read that in 10th grade. It wasn't too bad, plus if i remember correctly, its not too long.

check out reading.cornell.edu
basically everything that you get in the packet regarding the assignment is on this page.
all you have to do is take one of the study questions and use it as a lead to write a one to two page response to the book.
Not a bad assignment if you ask me, besides..$200 is involved :p

Uh huh. 10 winners sigh.... 10 winners out of 3200 students (transfers and freshman included).

Well, engineers and aggies don't know how to write, so that makes it easier for the CAS kids (jk).

nah, this is just a freshman assignment from what I've seen....so that cuts out 1 percent of the original pool, but hey! :P

no transfers are required to do it too.

Didn't you get the book in the mail Huy? IF you did, then you're required to read it (from what Eric Gryske said on classof2009 site)
