Unfortunately I got rejected, how about you?

I’m so sorry. I was accepted but was on the high end of their stats and am a legacy. So probably helped me alot. The process sucks. I didn’t get accepted to my ED1 and was really disappointed. Sorry to hear you didn’t get in but I’m certain the best is yet to come for you.

Congratulations🎉, you really deserved it.
Do you have any clue if there is any way to send an appeal letter for the admission office at Haverford?

Congratulations! Your kind post is truly Fordly.

This might seem like a setback, but there are far more worthy schools. Wherever you end up, you will find it amazing.

waitlisted, anyone know how many people get off the waitlist?

From Haverford’s 2022-23 Common Data Set

Thank you for sharing this info from the common data set. Wow, that is a huge number of students offered a place on the wait-list!

My son applied RD was offered a place on the waitlist and I had hope for him – it was his #1 choice after this painstaking process, he really fit the ethos of the school, had a great interview with an alumna, and it seemed like a “perfect match” but apparently not… The very nice letter said they are aiming to fill a class of 390 this year. It felt more like a “maybe, we’ll see…” than a “soft rejection” but these numbers don’t lie.

So excited for the kids that were accepted, and while disappointed over here, we have to go full steam ahead with the schools who clearly want my son (acceptance and merit aid as proof).

i’m in the same position and i’ve been reading past years threads and apparently, they send admissions offers for waitlisted applicants in a case by case basis- meaning they don’t make all the decisions in june. last year some people got offers as soon as april, although they had to claim the spot within 3 days, otherwise the offer was off the table. i think this system works way better than other schools that let all the applicants know final decisions well inti the summer.
i’ll suggest writing a letter of continued interest and letting them know that haverford is his top choice and if given the chance to get off the waitlist, he’ll be accepting the offer.
Best of lucks and hope this works for you!!

Does anyone have advice on choosing between Middlebury or Haverford? I may not even go liberal arts but I’m having a hard time. I’m probably pre-law if that helps.

I think there is a very different vibe and surrounding environment at those places. If you are not sure about the liberal arts, maybe neither is good for you (compared to a place like Dartmouth that might be more pre-professional). Haverford, with its requirement that all students complete a thesis, seems to feed a lot of people into academic careers. Middlebury may be a bit more varied in outcomes, but I haven’t researched it as much. You must like grey stone buildings to be comfortable there. Attend their virtual events and gather more information!

True about the gray stone buildings. Here’s a quote often attributed to Pritzker Prize-winning architect Robert Venturi:

“If anyone had told me that gray stone boxes set in lawns could be so beautiful, I would have said they were crazy. Middlebury looks like what everyone thinks an American campus should be but seldom is.”
