Haverford Supplemental Essay Length

The instructions suggest writing an essay of a length from 1-2 pages. My essay right now is 662 words, and is a little over one page single spaced. Is this too long (do they mean 1-2 pages double spaced?) I have shortened my intro and conc to a smaller length - most of the length is in the body paragraph where I just give a lot of detail. Does anyone know what they expect in terms of 1-2 pages? How many words would that be?

I debated the same thing when I applied early decision. My essay was two full pages single spaced and I got accepted so I think its ok if you follow the guide lines with single space type.

Two full and single... that's quite a lot, wow! I guess I won't worry about the length then...

don't worry bout length...worry about how good your essay is...they will let you slide if your essay is good. At haverford, students go higher and lower than the suggested lengths and still get good grades. Its all about quality.
