Haverford V. Bryn Mawr

Hi all! I applied to both and am completely torn between the two? Any thoughts/advice would be highly appreciated.

You should visit each of them and decide which one feels better. They’re so closely interrelated that it doesn’t really matter which one you ultimately decide on because you can take classes and participate in clubs at either one.

Students in the Bi-Co can also declare a major at either school, and can apply for housing at either school. See where you get accepted, and what kind of financial aid they offer.

As somebody recently mentioned in a similar post, the biggest difference is going to be the traditions at BMC. The two schools share so much, but traditions are unique to BMC.

Good luck either way!

Hi, does anyone care to comment on: https://ehgazette.blogs.brynmawr.edu/2011/01/08/the-snobs-vs-the-weirdos/
This is from six years ago, but does this still reflect the prevailing attitudes?

My D only visited Haverford before, but she got into both schools. Given the BMC Presidential Scholarship and significantly higher cost of attending Haverford on only need-based aid, she’s leaning towards BMC, so she plans to visit BM in Focus. But this Bi-Co relationship doesn’t seem like it’s as much a warm-and-fuzzy, one-big-happy-family type deal as people make it out to be from afar. Or is this a meaningless exaggeration? Would her experience be significantly different at one school versus the other?

I know my son was at Bryn Mawr all the time and had many friends there. He also took classes there. I would say that they may just have a social awkwardness when dealing with the other school, which may make interactions difficult. That’s just a guess. I do also get a sense that the women of BM are very much outspoken feminists so often they give off a vibe that keeps Haverfordians at bay.
