Haverford vs. Swarthmore

Rumor or fact, what do you know about differences between Haverford and Swarthmore? (Swat students harder working, harder partying, Haverford more laid back, what about quality of teaching at two schools?, etc.)

Wow - I don't think I've ever seen Swat and party in the same sentence.

I went to Swarthmore (graduated '03), so I'm biased, but I would be hard-pressed to believe that students party harder at Swarthmore. Here's my run-down of the differences:

1) Swarthmore students work harder and Haverford students are more laid-back.

2) The reputation was that there was more drinking and "partying" at Haverford.

3) Swarthmore has the Honors program; Haverford has an honor code. Some students tried to get an honor code imposed on Swarthmore when I was there, and the reaction from the students was total opposition. "We should be trusted enough not to need an honor code!" was the reaction.

4) Swarthmore's campus looks like it has natural beauty; Haverford's campus looks like it has carefully planned beauty.

5) Swarthmore students are definitely more intellectual and allegedly smarter.

6) Swarthmore is more liberal than Haverford.

7) Haverford is less isolated than Swarthmore. Both are part of the Tri-College consortium, but Haverford is connected to Bryn Mawr by a 10-minute bus ride on a bus that runs every 20 minutes or so. The ride to Haverford or Bryn Mawr from Swarthmore is at least 30 minutes, and the shuttle runs much less frequently (though of course this may have changed this since I graduated). I think there's more "college town" stuff near Haverford is in as well.

OOh, there IS some xcore partying @ swat

but there seems to be a dearth of parties on sunday...OUTRAGEOUS I KNO!
