I'm a freshman at a university prestigious for its academics. I knew I wanted to enter the world of medicine and dentistry even before high school. I was quick to enroll in my school's pre-med track. I'm taking Biology and Gen. Chem. 1 right now, along with their labs. I'm having a bit of difficulty with both classes. Bio because I can't seem to get all the information down, but I know I can definitely improve with more practice and different study methods.. so I'm not worried about that. What I am worried about is General Chemistry. I have taken two exams thus far and have failed miserably at both. I study for days, do the homework and respective textbook problems, review old exams, and when the exams come, I just blank and can't answer the problems, thus doing terrible. There is supposedly a huge curve in chemistry, but I think that even with the curve, my grade will not be safe. I still have two or three more exams, but if I'm doing horrible now, I don't know how I'm going to make it the rest of the semester... With that being said, I am highly considering dropping Chemistry. I believe there is a now a period where I can drop without receiving an F in the course for dropping. I know people in the same boat as I am, and they are choosing to stay in the course, but I honestly don't think I can improve as I am simply trying and can't seem to grasp chemistry. I'm not sure what I should do.. drop chem and possibly retake it next semester..? I was thinking about dropping chemistry, seeing how things work out with Biology, and if all is well, sticking to pre-med. I know I would be doing much better if the biology and chemistry exams were not administered on consecutive days, but unfortunately I can't do anything about that...

What does anyone else think I should do? The idea of dropping really scares me, but my grades in this class are just pulling me away from my dreams of one day pursuing a medicine-related career.
