Im just wondering if you think its a good idea to bring both a desktop and laptop to UVA, and how many people do it.
FYI, Im going to the Engineering school.
I have a fast PC that I would like to bring (for gaming, autocad, homework, or w.e), and I would probably buy a new 13' laptop as well soon.
So should I bring my desktop and get a lighter, and cheaper laptop, or leave the desktop at home and just get a faster laptop to use?
Thoughts from current UVA students are especially welcome.

unnecessary
just get a laptop

I’d say leave it at home for two reasons
- less of a distraction to game
- will take up space in an already small room

Then again, if you know you want to game, and you know you want a workhorse to do Cad stuff on (I assume you’re Mech or Aero), bring it.

Actually better suggestion: if you know you’re going home for Fall Break, leave it at home and reassess the situation then. You won’t be doing anything CAD until at least second semester anyways.

Don’t bring a desktop, but do bring a monitor and a good keyboard w/mouse. When it’s 90 degrees in your room, sweat doesn’t work very well with a trackpad.
