Is there a valedictorian at HC,
if so how do they pick it
are there any other awards at graduation and what are the requirements?
Also are valedictorian and graduating first in your class the same thing?

Hey Jack, I'm an upcoming Sophomore here at Holy Cross. In regard to your first question, a handfull of seniors with the highest GPA's (around a 4.0) submit graduation speeches to a committee that selects the best speech. The individual that is chosen is considered the class Valedictorian. I'm not 100 % sure on your second question, but I do know that Holy Cross gives a descent number of awards at the end of the year to rising Juniors, Seniors, and individuals that are graduating (The list of the awards is on the back of the Holy Cross handbook). In regard to your third question, the valedictorian is not necessarily the individual that has the highest GPA, although certainly their GPA is strong, it's the individual that submits the best essay.
