i am helping out at an non-profit research based company, which specializes in studying stool samples on gluten sensitivity. I go there and help them out by extracting the stool sample liquid using a centrifgue and other laboratory jobs.
I have read numerous thread here and asked my guidence counselor on joing "hardcore" science school such as caltech. I have learned that i need to get into a science research so to define myshelf. Is this good? Should there be a research essay i should send (i am just a helper)? or could i just ask the "PHD" head researcher to write me a recommendation letter?

Thank you , for anyone replying.......

Research papers sent into Caltech seem to have big positive effects on applications. By no means does everyone have them, but participating in research is definitly good.
