I would still like to do something that is health related as I am currently pursuing a degree in health science. Are there any careers in the medical field that requires little contact with the public but still pays fairly well? I already switched from nursing and now I'm considering a switch from radiation therapy.

I’m sorry, but pretty much any job in the medical field requires lots of interaction with other people. You may want to consider another career path like programming possibly, one that you could be more comfortable working independently in.

Aren’t some clinics outsourcing the reading of xray scans to radiologists in india? All these radiologists need is internet. They never have to actually see, speak, touch a pesky patient.

There’s also health administration-- the paper pushers.

There also might be options in the public health field, where you would deal more with big picture health issues for a community rather than working with individuals.

Radiologist is the first thing that popped into my mind. Also medical examiner.

I am a radiologist and interpersonal skills are absolutely necessary. You need to deal with patients regularly during training and in many specialties. When you are done with training you can find jobs where you don’t deal directly with patients, but you still need to deal with referring physicians. Maybe pathology? But you still need to get through medical school.

Work in a morgue. Only interaction with… former patients.
