Health Insurance Exemption now available…

You have to go to your admissions to apply for an exemption.

what this mean?

This means that if you already have health insurance, then you can cancel the insurance that the school automatically provides you. If you don’t have health insurance, there is no reason to cancel it because all students attending the school are required to have health insurance.

Does this mean about $1k will get shaved off costs?

and if i get injured oncampus UC DAVIS won’t cover the costs right?

One thousand will be shaved off costs (~$333 per quarter). This insurance exemption only means that you choose not to buy the insurance plan offered by the UC Davis Student Health. If you get injured on campus, you will be sent to either the hospital of your insurance or to a hospital that accepts your UC Davis insurance (if you chose to buy their insurance). So in a sense, UC Davis is covering your health insurance cost because you bought their insurance plan.

If I’m reading your question correctly, if it’s UC Davis’ fault somehow that you are injured, they will cover your costs regardless of if you have private insurance or UC Davis Health Insurance. If it’s your fault that you got hurt, UC Davis Health Insurance would cover you (because that’s what you paid them for) or your own health insurance would cover your costs. I’m not sure if you’re asking about whether or not buying the UC Davis insurance would be beneficial in the case of an accident on campus. If I’m reading this all wrong, I’m sorry!
