Health Plans?

Can anybody post feedback on the MA health plan offered by Olin (and required if family health plan not adequate)?

In our case I think our United Health Car coverage is adequate to get us a waiver. And itt doesn't cost us anything because we still have another child on the plan (and one costs same as two or more). But I was wondering if anybody out there has feedback on this. I know other families are also wondering about use of Babson Health Care center and such with own plan.

My parents had me on their United Health Care Plan during my four years at Olin. Never had a problem with it.
Good luck to the new Oliner! It is a great school!

Thanks for the reply! So were you able to use the Babson Clinic, or did you need to go to a UHC provider in town?

Yes, you can use Babson Clinic. I never used them for more than a flu shot, but it definitely was available to me. Never needed to see a UHC M.D. in town.

I had my parents insurance and I used the Babson Health clinic when I needed some tests done and it seemed to work fine. When I broke my finger (not an emergency), the Babson police drove me to the hospital and then I used my regular insurance there. The Babson police provided free transportation to and from the hospital for me since I had no car (can’t remember if i called the health services or Babo directly).

Thanks for all of the feedback!

We sent in our forms, opting out of the MA plan. It sounds like our normal insurance will work out fine.

We also have United Healthcare, and chose to opt out of the medical plan offered by Olin. Our son had several visits to the Babson health clinic while he attended Olin, mainly for things like the flu, and we never had a problem with our claims. He also saw a specialist in Needham, and was treated at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston during his time there, and again, we had no problem with UHC paying the claims.
