Healthcare Policy -- ED Wharton or Cornell HumEc?

I’m interested in going into Healthcare policy, and am debating between ED’ing Wharton (where I’d also apply for their LSM dual degree for bio & wharton, though Wharton as my second choice with a concentration in healthcare policy) and Cornell’s college of human ecology.

Wharton’s HCP concentration would let me take more business-y classes, I feel, and it seems more prestigious of a degree if I want to go for consulting. I also quite like Philly. On the other hand, Cornell’s HCP allows me to take more bio/science courses (if I don’t get into Penn’s dual degree, which is notoriously difficult, only accepting ~25 kids a year), so it’s a better balance of my interests. It also has a far higher acceptance rate, especially with the ED boost.

I’m really stuck here, because I feel like I have a better chance at Cornell, and would be happy there, but at the same time I might regret not ED’ing Wharton and aiming higher? I don’t know – help!!

(And I know I sound like I’m chasing prestige – I sort of am, since I want to break into consulting, which is kind of a brand-name snobby field tbh).

Thanks

Suggest hit up Cornell and ask if there’s anyone you can talk to there about HCP and consulting.

But at either school, access to consulting recruiting does not necessarily guarantee consulting firm employment. These are selective firms/jobs. From what I understand. So suggest look more broadly at the education and opportunities available. While not ignoring having the opportunity for what you think you might want right now.

Big Consulting hire all kinds of top grads from HYP. (I mention that bcos none of them have health care policy majors.)

My point is that any top school can get you there. And yes, prestige matters to Big Consulting.
