This is a local dressing that has gone more nationwide. I love it. I don’t buy any off the shelf dressings except blue cheese for chicken wings!

I also like to make my own ranch using the powdered Hidden Valley mix. I mix it with sour cream or plain yogurt, buttermilk, fresh or dried dill and a few shakes of the TJ’s Green Goddess spice mix. It’s sooo good.

This isn’t low calorie but it’s not processed: our go-to dressing is to mash a ripe avocado at the bottom of the salad bowl, add lemon juice, garlic oil, salt, and pepper, and include thinly sliced red onions and tomatoes in the salad so those two flavors get muddled in as well.

Love garlic and looks like they sell this at HEB. Woot!

I usually make my own but I keep a few bottles of Primal Kitchen dressings in my refrigerator. I think the Greek dressing is very good.

Thanks! I like that the vinaigrette uses avocado oil.

I also like to keep Primal Kitchen avocado spray in my pantry,

What do you do with it?

I use avocado oil for frying; it has a high smoke point. EVO is used for recipes that don’t require higher heat.

I use it when I need a nonstick spray similar to when you would use Pam. Today I used it for brownies to spray the pan. I also use it to mist veggie burgers before cooking in the air fryer.
I use avocado oil in place of vegetable oils.

Wanted to let you know that I finally opened my bottle of this, and I love it! People who know me know that I am a picky eater so I am go glad that I like this so much. I especially like that it’s not so thick so that a little goes a long way. Thanks for the suggestion!

I love that you love it!!! It’s also a quick marinade for chicken! I try to keep stocked!

Yeah, I was thinking this could be our go-to marinade for grilled veggies. Have you tried it on shrimp? We love garlic in this house!

Yes, I forgot - definitely have used on shrimp and then grilled!

We are back from our week of splurging (money and calories etc). My plan to just enter first day into food log then copy/swipe after home didn’t work… guess you can’t wait on that. Oh well - still glad I had the log free vacation. Just threw in some meals and guesses, including plenty of margaritas, just to keep from have zero days in my long term nutritional averages.

Vacation did include paddle boarding (a first for me), a hike and lots of walking. More details on that later in Fitness thread.

Per salad dressing, I usually keep it simple with teeny splashes of olive oil and vinegar. (Not much at all… I originally logged 1tsp each but then measured one day to see that usually it’s more like 1/2tsp; in MyNetDiary I have “HH - house salad” custom food). Most people would not like this method, but I’m posting it for people like me… who sometimes are fine even with no dressing at all.

I keep this cute nesting glass bottle set on the table

Hubby still likes bottle dressing, and sometimes I use that for a change of pace. I plan to pick up Garlic Expression linked above next time at our King Soopers grocery store.

I have a refillable glass spritz bottle for oil that I use to “mist” veggies I’m going to roast and salads. Much easier to control the amount of oil and you can choose what you want to use. I have quite a few different vinegars that help to add some variety to dressings as well. I also really like the Primal Kitchen products.

For those who do food logging (especially if interested in Protein and/or Calories), be careful on cooked vs uncooked weight factors on meat and fish.

Examples:
9oz raw chicken = 6 oz cooked
6.25oz ground beef (85%) = 5 oz cooked
10oz fish fillet = 7oz cooked

A few years ago my husband go nice scale similar to this for Christmas. I really like it!
Features I appreciate: kg/oz toggle button, zero button to offset weight of container, pullout tray to see display for big plates (not used a lot, but very handy for a dinner plate with protein on it)

He said he knew I’d like it because at dinner I’d often ask, “Do you think this is 4oz? 6oz?”. (And actually that was before I even realized cooked vs uncooked factors).

When I started dieting and just cared about calories and losing weight, it was fine to just “guess high”. But after I lost weight and had more interest in tracking nutrition (protein grams etc) it was nice to have more precision.

Note - It was most useful in the beginning, before I had developed a better eye to gauge portion size. But I still use it enough to keep it out on my counters (which admittedly are more cluttered than most would like)

I’m down to the last few pounds before I will stop weighting myself everyday. I’m going to buy new clothes now to keep up with the new size.
Regarding eye health, today I bought some Lutein and Zeaxanthin vitamins, I’m worrying that as I getting older I will have vision problem. Eating a lot of greens might not be enough.
