Heard back from diversity house open weekend?

ga2012mom i am going on sept 29 too!!!!! :) hope to see her there ;)

anyone going in october?

Was anyone rejected from the Weekend?
I haven't got my letter yet, and am wondering if they send a mail with sorry and bla bla bla reasons

Yes, if you look at some the previous messages on this thread, you'll see that some people did get rejection letters.

Has anyone who applied for the October open house heard anything yet?

yeah, i think one person has. i applied pretty late... like right before the august 31rst deadline. did anyone else hear back who applied that late?

That was my D that applied 2 days before the 31st deadline, and she received her acceptance e-mail last Friday, the 7th. She was not being lazy or putting off filling out the application, it was that she had just got it in the mail right before then.

That is very weird, I didn't get a reply of any form yet.

soulkiller2, if you look at post #10, she says notifications were not all at once. Good luck, keep checking your e-mail!

GA2012MOM, I thought the deadline was on the 15th.
I'm actually not surprised the Oct. decision letters didn't come out yet. Because its further away.

SoAuthentic, I had read somewhere on the threads that it was the 15th, but the "extended" deadline was the 31st. My D did not have an application, I thought this would be a great thing for her, she is doing questbridge, and amherst is her 1st choice. D called admissions, they sent form, and we sent back. Looking at other posts on this subject, I am under the impression that people were "targeted" for the weekends. My D was not! We requested the application, it was not offered to us!

soauthentic, someone already got in for the october one. i think it depends on when you applied.

roamorse, possibly! I submitted it two days before the deadline but the admissions director got received it two days after the deadline.
I called and they informed me. I geuss its first come, first serve!

GA2, I actually got teh diversity open house letter I think because I was on their mailing list or either I participated ina College Summit program at Amherst College. But other than that, good luck to your daughter!

Sorry SoAuthentic about your "postal tardiness!" We actually sent it overnight because it was right at the cutoff, the best $16.00 I have ever spent!

Has anyone received confirmation for the october date yet and would rather go on the september one? =/ I was accepted to the sept one but i may have prior arrangements so i was wondering if anyone in october would be willing to switch reservations with me? let me know!

wen2hu, you should work this out with the Admissions Office. They're very flexible. last year my daughter was accepted for the September weekend and her grandmother died and the funeral was the Friday prior to the weekend. Amherst switched her weekend for her (although my daughter decided to fly up after the funeral for the September weekend afterall since she knew some students from other places who were going that weekend). So, I don't think it's a big deal to change (if you let the Admissions Office know).

got the letter today! anyone else going to the october one?

hmm i emailed the dean and he didnt say anything, which im guessing is a no. my situation isnt a funeral or anything, but we have a family vacation planned to last until that saturday afternoon (my dad lives 8 hours away from me so it is kinda a big deal) and then homecoming that night =/ but i guess i could have the trip cut short to friday night or something

Rejected* :( (I feel drained right now)

.......no Further Comments!

SoAuthentic - don't let this get to you. I know of students who have gotten rejected to Diversity Open House/Weekend in past years but who applied for admission and were accepted. There is hope, so don't give up - if you are truly interested in Amherst I would encourage you to apply.
