I am in college. My boyfriend and I went drinking at some party (none of my friends were there, just me and his friends & there girlfriends, who I am not necessarily close with). Well, we got into an argument because I drank a little too much and things got extremely heated. His friends didn't exactly help because they screamed back at me. Well security was called and then I was told to go back to his place with him to sleep and calm down. We went back there and things started out fine, but his friends made several rude comments and I got heated. One went to call security again, and I ended up throwing something. Now I am awaiting a hearing from the school...

In the meantime I have gone to a counselor, and went to a Psychiatrist to receive some help for aclohol, and alcohol counseling. I have also been to a couple alcoholics anonymous meetings.

This is my first offense, and I am not sure what the heck got into me. I have been very stressed with my dad being diagnosed with cancer, my boyfriend so called cheating, and him just placing all of his problems onto me. I know NONE of this is to blame for what happened...but what do you think the outcome would be??

I am hoping for probation with some counseling, however, what do you think??

Thanks, please no rude comments, I already know it was a mistake.

*And he is no longer my boyfriend, I should have changed that to ex.

Assuming this happened off campus, this doesn’t sound like any of the school’s business. I work for the campus police at my school, and anything that happens in an off-campus dwelling remains the responsibility of the city in which the school is located and not the University police department.

I can definitely tell it’s your first offense. There’s no way you’re going on probation for throwing something and fighting drunk. You might get a minor (if applicable), public intox if anything happened outside (everyone has one) and maybe get a violent domestic dispute charge. Nothing that’ll matter anywhere down the road.

Just tell them you screwed up, got too drunk, really really regret it. I agree with Todd though, I don’t see why the uni cares as long as you didn’t assault anybody.

It doesn’t sound like you’re gonna get in trouble for what happened at the frat. Pending on who you got in trouble with at the apartment (what kind of security?) it’s probably no big deal. They probably just want to give your ex the opportunity to press charges but assuming he’s not hurt or a total *******, that shouldn’t be a problem.

And worst case scenario you have a therapist to vouch for you having other issues if things progress. They have more power than you think.

It was the cops that came, but didnt arrest me or charge me for anything…

I received my charges the other day- alcohol, disorderly conduct, and destruction of property (a cup).

I just am extremely nervous, I really messed up…it’s my first time, and I don’t want to be kicked out of school…I learned my lesson and honestly, I’m scared ****less.

It’s a good thing you learned your lesson!! But try not to worry. These things happen at college all the time and you don’t see people getting kicked out, do you?

Alcohol: You’ll get fined ~$250 if you’re underage and were caught by the TOWN police and not the University Department. If the school caught you, sanctions may vary from a low fine (like $25) to having to do community service. You ** absolutely ** won’t get kicked out for that.

Disorderly Conduct: Really vague term, but it sounded like domestic dispute (fighting at home). At my school, the sanctions taken for fighting vary widely depending on the degree of violence. Your case sounded minor since apparently no one died or got super hurt. I’d say a night in jail WORST CASE SCENARIO, but that would’ve happened on the night of the incident. If the police were present when you “threw something” or if you were resisting arrest or compliance with an officer, you’ll get in bigger trouble but nothing more than a misdemeanor and a fine. Not getting kicked out of school for it. Also, I’ve seen a LOT of crazy **** at my school that got classified as “disorderly conduct” and I’ve never once heard of someone getting in big trouble let alone expelled.

And I laughed about you getting a vandalism charge for ruining a cup. Any judge will disregard that immediately and laugh. I have a safe bet that you need not worry about that :)

Please just relax. You’re not getting thrown out of school. Like I said earlier, I’ve been on my UPD squad for a year and I’ve seen stuff way crazier than this go down and people seldom even get arrested.

Sorry, I’ve just been spazzing…and it was screaming and I pushed an individual (but that’s a five foot girl versus a 6 foot guy, no injury happened).

I am bringing in my AA meeting slips, saying I’ve been to a counselor, and will continue to go to one. But I also plan on saying I did learn my lesson and understand alcohol is an extremely destructive thing with me, because it is.

I just don’t want this to affect my education.
