Hi everyone- I just recently did a walk in audition for Miami and the Chicago unifieds. I was wondering if anyone knew around when we’d be hearing back on admissions?

Thanks so much :)

Hi everyone- I just recently did a walk in audition for Miami and the Chicago unifieds. I was wondering if anyone knew around when we’d be hearing back on admissions?

Thanks so much :)

I also auditioned at Chicago unifieds. I’m interested in knowing this as well =)

I auditioned there too and am curious! I read something about how there could be callbacks?

The email they sent me said that there would only be callbacks in some locations. Chicago wasn’t listed.

Hi, my son auditioned last year for U Miami at Chicago Unifieds. He received an e-mail from the head of the dept within a week of his audition, telling him how impressed they were with his audition, if he had any questions, yada yada. Then he didn’t hear anything until April - one of the last schools to notify. He was accepted, but even with the scholarship $$$ they offered him (academic), the cost of attendance was still way out of reach for us.

alright. awesome. thanks so much!

good luck to you all :)

@LMD197 I believe some decisions were released today. I heard of one person that was accepted to MT. I think she found out by looking online.

I checked online today and got accepted into BFA MT.

What did it say in your letter? Mine said “Congratulations! You have been admitted to the University of Miami for the upcoming fall semester to begin your undergraduate career in Theater Arts in the College of Arts and Sciences.” I’m not sure if theatre arts is referring to the department or if I got bumped down to the BA program.

@BroadwayBound164 mine says the exact same thing…how do you know if you got into MT or not? I put that I only wanted to do MT…

This is what my letter said. Copy and pasted it from myUM "Congratulations! You have been admitted to the University of Miami for the upcoming fall semester to begin your undergraduate career in Theatre Arts BFA Musical Theatre in the College of Arts and Sciences.
"

So do we think that’s MT?

Oh jk I didn’t see yours said MT on it…so we didn’t make MT then okee

Not sure. I wouldn’t take it to mean anything until you get the official letter.

I emailed the admissions office about it. I’ll post when I find out what it means, and congrats Jagminor!

Thanks. It was a little good news after getting a rejection from Texas state and being told it was a very close decision. And I was top 25 there and it was my top choice. So today has basically sucked.

On their website it says if you don’t get into the BFA you will be offered a spot in the BA theatre program but you can still audition for the main stages…

I was also accepted to the Theatre Arts program with a nice scholarship. Is it even worth considering if my passion is truly musical theatre…? Don’t get me wrong, I’m still excited to be accepted to the BA program since UMiami is a great school. But a general Theatre major doesn’t seem like the best fit for me. I want to be doing MUSICAL theatre, so I’m a little wary. Any advice? Or any current UMiami students who can comment on the different programs?

@mynemezzo. Was your scholarship award posted online with your acceptance or did you receive that information in the regular mail? Thank you!

@Mynemezzo. It’s really a personal decision. I know I wouldn’t be happy in unless I was in an MT degree (luckily, I already have an acceptance). I have a friend who goes there and was told that the focus was truly on the acting. While your voice and dancing abilities do get stronger, the acting is the main focus. That said, I’d rather be in a program that’ll train me to be a triple threat, especially if I’m not going to be in the BFA program.
