Hedge Fund Manager: Pre-Requisites + Tips

Hey guys,

I'm a freshman in high school, and I've been really intrigued lately about hedge funds and possibly managing a hedge fund later in life. So, what classes, majors, etc. should I be looking into? I've read a lot, but haven't come up with exactly what I've been hoping for. The only things I've been hearing are "MBA" and a lot of calculus.

So, what do you guys know? If it helps, I'd like to add that I'm very involved in football, and I am being recruited well for my age for potential Division I-A colleges. Thus, schools like Stanford, Notre Dame, Northwestern, other good football schools that offer a remarkable education would be great for me (so I would think!). Please just leave some opinions or facts that I should know below.

My GPA has never dropped below 3.8, and I plan on taking calculus and advanced mathematics and sciences throughout high school.

Thanks so much,
Johnathah

Worry about getting into a good college first. You’re only a freshman and you’re future plans will change as you take different classes in high school and your major will definitely change when you explore different fields in college.

It seems like you’re on the right track. If you can attend any of the schools you mentioned, play football and maintain top grades you will be a very strong candidate for most jobs (including many hedge funds) as well as MBA programs.

Oh man. Freshman in high school. Get into a top school first. Then ask those questions.
