What are my chances at the following schools?

1) University of Illinois Urbana champaign
2) University of Wisconsin Madison
3) University of Michigan Ann Arbor
4) Indiana University Bloomington
5) NIU
6) UIC
7) Purdue
8) Loyola
9) UT Austin

The large discrepancy between my UW GPA & W GPA is due to the large amount of AP & Honors course I was given. I am smart, but during freshman & sophomore years I wasn't mature enough to handle an honors work load. I gradually fixed my work ethic when I was in junior year and managed to piece together my shattered GPA to at least a 2.7

List of AP:
English (honors)
Biology
World History
Pre- Calculus (honors
Trig( honors)
European History
Chemistry
US History
Psychology
Computer Science
Calculus

1) 2 year Varsity Debate
2) 2 year Varsity Swim Team
3) 9 years martial arts
4) South Asian Violin 5 years
5) Hospital Volunteering 100+ hours

What are my chances to the colleges above?
Do you guys have any other colleges that might be good for me?

PS I'm applying undecided everywhere so that it will be easier to get in. I will work to get good grades for a couple of semesters and then move to the major I'm interested in.

Have you ever thought about applying to some UK schools? This might sound slightly crazy but the UK schools don’t ask for GPA. If you’ve scored a lot of 4/5’s on your APs and have a decent ACT you may have a good shot at some pretty decent UK schools. Check some schools out on the UK League Tables and then go on each school’s individual website to see what scores they require US students to meet. If you qualify you usually stand a pretty decent chance of admission :)

I looked at the London School of Economics and it looks good thanks. Does anyone think that I have a shot at any semi-reputable college in the US midwest?

Hey!
I saw your random post on my thread, haha, but here’s my two cents.
I really don’t know much regarding admissions on the schools you listed besides UMich Ann Arbor.

UMich is going to be a reach school for you solely based on GPA and ACT.
Your commitment to martial arts is actually very unique. Any awards earned there will be even better (black belt, state champ, regional champ, even a most improved coach’s award).

Since you’re instate at IL, your public IL school will be easier to get into.
However, I do not know the rigor of the ones you listed. Sorry about that

If you really want to gain a lead in admissions, one word: essays.
Bottom line: etch out some really kick butt essays. They will hopefully see past your GPA and test scores. Martial Arts can be a superb topic. Anything even.

I think that UT-Austin places a great deal of weight on GPA, and yours probably isn’t high enough. Although your ACT is quite respectable, it might not be high enough to compensate. I suspect the same is true for Michigan. Wisconsin might be a bit of a reach, also. I think your chances are pretty good at the other colleges (unless you were applying to more selective divisions, like Business at Indiana or Comp. Sci./Engineering).

I don’t know about many of them, but I do know that UMich is a reach school for almost anyone and i dont think ur gpa is cut out for it, if you do apply hopefully they look at your monstrous list of AP’s

1) University of Illinois Urbana champaign: low reach
2) University of Wisconsin Madison: low reach
3) University of Michigan Ann Arbor: high reach
4) Indiana University Bloomington: high match
5) NIU: northern Illinois? I think you’re in match
6) UIC: what’s this stand for?
7) Purdue: low reach
8) Loyola: which?
9) UT Austin: reach

You’re GPA is low
But I think the trend is very important and the larger the growth the better.
Your act score is good.
Essay needs to be good
Undecided should help you.
