Here are the schools that I plan on applying to, and will be applying to. I have to cut my list to just 4-5 schools though. I just want to know what you guys think my chances are for these schools.

-University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC)
-Purdue University
-Indiana University at Bloomington (IU)
-Marquette University
-Michigan State University
-University of Iowa
-University of Missouri, Colombia (Mizzou)

My background
-3.8 GPA under a 5.0 scale
-21 ACT Score, I took it twice, the other one was a 20
-Involved in Sports and Activities like Football and Peer Counseling
-Have made an improvement with Class Difficulties over the years, Started from very weak classes to very strong honor/A.P classes.

You have a pretty good GPA, but your ACT is really lacking. I would strongly recommend taking it again or maybe try taking the SAT. Here is what I think:

UIC: Very High Reach
Purdue: Mid-high Chance
IU: Mid-high Chance
Marquette: Mid-high Chance
Michigan State: Mid-high Chance
Iowa: High Chance
Missouri: High Chance

I’m not positive on MSU; I am a Michigan resident and our chances of acceptance are generally much higher than that of out-of-staters, so I’m not sure about that.

UIC is a high reach? I thought that was my most inferior school of the group, well after Mizzou and Iowa. You do know I mean University of Illinois IN Chicago, not University of Chicago right? Or University of Illinois in Urbana?

Keep in mind I said 3.8/5.0. I heard that all I do is remove one point for a 4.0 scale, which would be a 2.8?

as thrilling as it is to discoverwhat your chances are, i have a suggestion. Try to boost the GPA, and if its not completely possible, than get a whole bunch of ECs under your belt. Other than that, study your butt of for the ACTs, (which are fine because those are all middle of the country schools, and its common) and to be honest something as little as a 3 hour test may sway your chances big-time.

Try the SAT. And if those schools above consider SAT II’s, then take a couple of those. Those schools you liked above are pretty much stats based schools so thats what its going to come down to. Good Luck :)

Diesel, you have a fairly good shot at uic. Make sure you write strong essays and put a lot of time into your application. Your numbers are below average for the other three on your list but it can’t hurt to apply. Just apply as early as you can

Loyola is pretty tough too. DePaul may be more realistic if you have any interest. I visited the school a couple of years ago and was very impressed
