Well, my SAT should rise like crazy, considering the last one was from frosh year and I’ve done lots of coaching and studying since then. GPA-wise though…freshman year may have completely screwed me over. It’s rising slowly, as I nearly had straight As sophomore year, but I don’t know if junior year will be enough to get it to the level of a average Yale applicant’s.

I’m not just focused on padding my apps, though. Each one of my extracurriculars mean a lot to me (especially Chinese). I’ve shown this through various leadership roles and obvious involvement in activities. Hopefully, I can get some bigger awards, but I think I’m pretty well-rounded (except for my GPA, of course)

This is, of course, in my completely biased opinion ahaha. Thanks for the advice everyone!

Well, while my test score should increase i’m no varsity athelete, or an actor. I KNOW i’m going to be working on my essays for a long time, though.

What else should i do to improve my chances for Yale?

"What else should i do to improve my chances for Yale? " You’re already doing this shrey: there’s no magic bullet out here that people just can grab.

Keep up the good work and hope for the best. No one has good chances and everyone needs to accept that reality. Good luck to you.

Just a follow-up on posts # 6 & 7 for people who may read this in the future: I emailed the Y webmaster about the mistake and the wording has now been changed to:

Of course there’s no magic bullet for Yale, otherwise everyone would be getting in I just wanted to know how to head in the right direction junior year. Everyone says its the most important of the four, and as someone intrested in extremely high level colleges, i just want to know how i should spend the year.
