I am a senior in high school. I have until May 1 (not long!) to make my college decision. I have been accepted to George Washington University and Villanova University among others, and this is my final choice to make amongst my acceptances. I have been accepted to the Liberal Arts - Economics program at both schools. I could use any advice or direction in choosing. GWU is 16k a year less expensive due to scholarships. BESIDES the difference in environment (urban vs. suburban campus), is there anything glaringly important that I have missed that would differentiate the schools? I run into issues with the fact that villanova is so much more expensive, but also ranked so much higher on almost every list across the board and seems to have more prestige to the name. When talking careers/ internship/ salary opportunity, what difference would the schools serve? thank you for any help in advance.
GWU is a strong brand due to its location. In terms of internships, I actually think they do better.
George Washington University is well known nationally among likely employers. Villanova is very much a regional university. So if your intent is stay in the greater Philadelphia area post graduation then Villinova is a good choice, but not otherwise.
Go with GWU, only because it is cheaper. There are both comparable academically.
wow, interesting. That is all news to me. Thank you @SternBusiness @fogcity @MYOS1634
@fogcity @MYOS1634 I also actually got into Uconn which is much cheaper than both, but I didn’t think uconn would offer me nearly as much opportunity earnings-wise as the other two. Do either of you have opinions on that?
Unless you excel at Uconn, Villanova/GWU will offer much better oppurtunity.
GWU and UConn are better “values” in terms of ROI. I’d go with GWU since your parents can afford it.
