<p>McGill is well known among people in the U.S., among employers and graduate schools.</p>

<p>Why do these two comments seem to be related? </p>
<p>The only way you end up with all American friends in another country is if you act like a pompous American. </p>
<p>As for caring whether a university has international appeal, I would advise in an increasingly global world (and economy) this would be a factor to at least consider especially for someone who is going into A FIELD THAT IS INTERNATIONAL IN SCOPE.</p>
<p>The ignorance on some of these threads is amazing.</p>
<p>Anyhow, if BC does not have your major or a strong field in your area you should consider McGill. Also, the US Dollar is a bit stronger so you might consider cost and cost of living as well.</p>
<p>I still say McGill.</p>
<p>Best fit, can’t go wrong either way. Lot’s of opportunity. </p>
<p>That said, I did look up McGill. I found that 135 countries are represented at McGill. Someone going to McGill has the amazing opportunity to network and make friends with people from around the world. Connections they can build on for life. But my other takeway was … what is McGill doing so right that kids from 135 countries want to go there? Even Columbia or NYU don’t have that many and that’s New York City. </p>
<p>But I also have been impressed with the BC students and grads I’ve met so there ya go. Go with your instincts.</p>
<p>If people don’t know much about Canadian universities, the #1 school they think of is McGill.</p>

<p>And people that don’t know much about U.S. universities, the #1 school they think of is Harvard. So? I don’t know how anything to do with people’s lack of knowledge helps the O.P. with his decision …</p>

<p>I love Canada. Every man, woman and moose is adorable. It is the home of Davinci’s Inquest, CBC, Tim Hortons, and poutine. What’s not to like?</p>
