<h2>My mom just handed me an early "non official" report of my SAT scores. They list them by subjects, but they don't show my overall score (ex: 1600, 700, 1450, ect.). Would yall please help me figure it out for me? By the way, I'm entering my Senior year :D!</h2>

<p>Math- 420 (Favorite and Best subject :(, sadly not on SAT)</p>

<p>Nope, you don't add the 38 and 7. The 38 is your percentage for the writing multiple choice section (ie - you did better than 38% of test takers, or another way, 62% of test takers did better than you) and the 7 is your essay grade (range of 1-6; two readers read and grade it, combine those two individual grades for total out of 12). That essay score is already "built into" your writing subscore of 390.</p>

<p>Well, if you want me to be honest, then I will. A 1210 is not a great score. An 18 ACT would be around an 870 for the old SAT, which is also not good. Are you an ESL student (English as a Second Language) because your writing and reading subscores are pretty sub-par. The 420 math is not much better either. What grade are you entering and what are your class grades from the previous year? Perhaps you just are a bad test taker, but even still I would think 500-550 scores would be attainable. I'd seriously try and work for a jump in all those scores.</p>
<p>I'm going to retake both tests. English is my 1st language, Spanish is 2nd you could say (speak more of it than my 3rd language), and Hebrew is my 3rd (read it, can't speak it as well as I can read it like I can Spanish). My dream ACT score that I wanted to obtain was a 20ish, even maybe a 23 would be nice for me. SAT, for me, I just wanted to get into the 1000 range. I know that sounds silly, but that means that I can reach there at least. Now, I would like to obtain a 1600 on the new test. It's higher up, and more colleges would look at it and accept me. Plus, I can say I scored a perfect score ;)</p>

<p>Well, best of luck to you. What grade are you in? If you are a junior next year then you have a good amount of time to prep and take both tests in the spring. I would consider getting a tutor (they have them via NHS for free) and really work at it. I've seen great improvements here and I know you can do it if you just work hard at it. What colleges are you looking at - and what major?</p>
<p>Can you afford to take a SAT class? They won't help someone go from a 2300 to a 2400, but at lower scores, they review the material on the test and teach strategies that will probably help you improve a few hundred points. If a class is too expensive, just buy The Official SAT Study Guide from the College Board (the blue book), for 20 bucks. Reading the reviews in the front and taking the practice tests should help you improve.</p>
<p>I would go with a test prep. class, as emperor noted. Although expensive, the tips and tricks can help shoot a score up a few hundred points in only 2-3 months.</p>

(only based on your sat score).</p>
<p>I would seriously suggest taking sat prep classes at kaplan or somewhere else.
At least buy a sat review book.
Try to get at minimum a 1500.(500 on each section)</p>
