ECs:

  • Robotics and physics club — In the leadership team of our school’s physics and robotics club for three years, specifically treasurer for two years and president for one year. As a robotics team that had previously been very inactive, I helped my club become more relevant by focusing on our new members and teaching anything related to the robotics competition we participate in.
Helped run and maintain our club’s makerspace, worked on multiple personal mechatronics projects which I have created online documentation for for, organized an outreach partnership program with our local library where our club teaches STEM to elementary and middle school students through small projects.
  • Entrepreneurship club — Participated in a LaunchX entrepreneurship club for two years where student teams attempted to create their own start-ups, helped create simple apps and websites for the two teams I participated with, both years we won design awards.

UC weighted-capped GPA from https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/ ?

2017 UC admission rates by UC weighted-capped GPA, derived from http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/freshman-admissions-summary :

Campus 4.20- 3.80- 3.40- 3.00-
        higher 4.19 3.79 3.39
UCB 43% 13% 2% 1%
UCLA 47% 12% 2% 1%
UCSD 84% 39% 7% 1%
UCSB 82% 45% 10% 1%
UCI 94% 52% 11% 3%

UCSC 93% 76% 44% 14%
UCR 98% 90% 63% 23%
UCM 98% 96% 89% 57%

However, the popularity of CS means that getting direct admission to the CS major will be more difficult than the admission rates above may suggest. If you enroll as a general undeclared student or in another major, it can be difficult or competitive to change into CS later.

UCLA: Reach
Cal Poly SLO: Reach
UCSD: Low Reach
UCSB/UCD/UCI: High Match to Low Reach
UCSC: Match
UCR: Low Match
