I am considering the following colleges: Furman, Reed College, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Davidson, William and Mary, Emory, plus a few "safe" schools I know I can get into.

Advice please? Which of the schools I listed do I have a realistic chance of getting into? Are there any others I should consider (I have done a lot of research). I would like to stay in the Southeast, Massachusetts, or Oregon, but I would consider other places. Also anything that is lacking from my resume?

Thank you SO much.

with a 32 ACT and your GPA you should get into all these schools.

Thanks for the input. I’m just really nervous knowing all the great applicants out there. I also am worried about financial aid, as I’m not poor, but my parents are concerned about the costs. I’ve entered lots of scholarships, but nothing yet. And sadly most of our these schools don’t do much for National Merit.

And it should read, 17-year-old girl from Alabama  Sorry.

its a very scary thing not only getting into college but also paying for it.

my advice is dont let the money side scare you away from trying to schools.

You will get some offers and most students never pay the full price. At the very worst you will be responsible for about 1/2 of the price tag. For the amount you need to pay there are other things such as work study jobs and student loans. The good thing about loans is that you dont need to start paying them back until 6 months after you graduate.

The first year is the hardest. Remember that you will probably get some money gifts from relatives and you can use this. Also you may want to consider getting a summer job befor college or during. These are all things that can help financially. Good luck

aim higher

like second tier ivies

what is a second tier Ivy. I think you could argue that Emory, Vandy, Davidson are.

i would say amherst is good, georgetown, duke, chicago

but the list is certainly not limited to those.

Wow thanks :)

I considered Georgetown, but heard several horror stories about it. I don’t really want to be in Chicago. I considered Duke, but I didn’t think I would be able to get in, but I may re-add it to my list. And I will go check on Amherst. Thank you very much for those suggestions.

Any schools I listed that you wouldn’t recommend? Anything else I should add to my resume? Thank you guys SO MUCH already. I am feeling a lot better about this!

miami (FL) is also a good school
