Help - Chemical Engg at UWisc or UDelaware?

Hi,

Which is better. Chemical Engineering at Univ of Wisconsin or at Univ of Delaware.

Both are out of state for me and I have to pay the entire amount which is the same $50K per year for both colleges.

Thanks

UW is stronger in terms of academic rep overall, including (more specifically) in Engineering. But also consider environmental and social fit. And if you changed your mind in terms of major, which school offers more programs that appeal to you?

I would say it depends on what kind of industry you are intending to work in after graduation and where you’d like to live. Look to see where the chem e grads are going to work after graduation at the two schools. Delaware has a lot of ties to the chemical companies in the mid Atlantic. UW’s overall chem e ranking is slightly higher but I think they are peer schools. Did you have a preference for the feel of one school over the other? Congrats on having good options!

Thanks prezbucky & momofsenior1. Subfields inside ChemE are so varied that it is difficult to make a choice before attending the college and taking classes. Also it seems like lots of ChemE graduates go on for PhD after undergrad from both schools. Delaware had Dow Chemicals but except its ChemE program, nothing else is top notch there. UWisc has other great engineering programs but it is not near a major chemical company. Both schools have a big party scene but I think I will stay away. I was leaning towards UWisc but when I visited UDel their faculty took the extra effort to show me around their facilities and were very caring and personal. It would be great if someone had the same predicament and would tell me what they choose. I will wait for more replies but thank you for taking time to reply to my post.
