I’ve narrowed down my college choices to my favorite undergrad business programs, and they all seem so similar in academic quality that I need some help comparing them. We can set aside factors like fit, weather, price, party scene, etc.
How would you guys order UMich Ross, NYU Stern, Notre Dame Mendoza, UNC-CH Kenan-Flager, and USC Marshall in terms of overall business program?
Would the order change if my career-goals are to pursue entrepreneurship/startups?
Participate in venture competitions, continue developing my businesses & apps, etc. Or pursue as in select my concentration/major to be Entrepreneurship or Marketing
Are you looking at the the Undergrad BSchool Rankings?
The MBA rankings are different (Stern is #20 in the MBA rankings because they got their data to US News late. Usually they are #9 or #10 in MBA rankings and that will most likely be corrected next year)
For UG finance Stern is #2 in the country and the location is added benefit for whatever field you are interested. The ability to do relevant internships in your field plays a big role when you are pitching yourself in interviews come when you need to look for a full time job.
Ross is generally very good at management / strategy so if you were really into consulting Ross could be slightly more attractive. Ross could be more attractive if you wanted to find a job in the Midwest. Stern places well into NYC, San Francisco, and Europe / Asia but not many people end up in the Midwest from Stern (i’m sure it’s due to interest rather than opportunity).
For the 2015-2016 year, Stern’s undergrad tuition plus registration and service fees was $48,242. Tuition for Stern’s grad program is also much less than $100k per year.
I would suggest ignoring everything you are told by someone who incorrectly claims at least 4 times that tuition at NYU is $100,000 per year.
Thanks for all the help. NYU is estimated to be around $68k year for tuition + R&B, and after a scholarship it would be $43k/year for me. UMich would be a similar cost ($44k/year for tuition + R&B).
So assuming the price is the same, it seems like Ross would be the better option still (according to some of you)?
