<p>My bf just sent in his common app. In the "additional statements" he included a note about how he was the only student in our class to take Calc III in college this year. However now he's afraid it might have sounded arrogant...could this affect his chances?</p>

<p>Well, in my mind, you can't form an impression of arrogance off that one statement.</p>
<p>He has multiple samples of writing though the essays and short response....... If he sounded arrogant in these (which I doubt based off of his concern for sounding arrogant), then of course that statement will only augment what the admissions officers have already deduced.
But if he's sincere, down to earth, etc. in his essays/short responses, then no one will think he's arrogant for one statement in the additional info section.</p>
<p>Plus, this is a COLLEGE application, and quite a competitive field..... you're expected to not sell yourself short :p</p>
