Hey everyone, I just had a few questions about the common app. Thank you!

There seems to be a lot of self-reporting on the common app. Are any of these scores actually verified by colleges? I don't plan on putting down on a false score, I'd just like to know that others aren't doing this to give me some peace of mind.

What kinds of things should be added under "Additional Information"? Longer descriptions of clubs/activities, awards? Another thing is that I had a very rough first semester of freshman year (.6 lower GPA than my average) - and this was due to some new stepfamily problems/my views towards school. That semester definitely dropped my overall GPA in three years (by about .1) and my class rank (from top 3/550 to top 15), but this is impossible to see via my year-end grades. Should I mention this under additional information?

For Honors, what counts as an 'honor' and what doesn't? Currently I have nothing filled in.

When do I need to be setting up interviews?

As far as I know, SATI and II scores are only “official” once colleges receive official score reports from Collegeboard (or, in certain cases, official scores on high school transcript may suffice). You don’t have to worry about anyone false reporting any score :).

You don’t have to add anything. As for the grade, I don’t know. It may be that whoever’s reading your application may not even be aware of the small dip in grade until you so explicitly pointed it out, or it may be that an explanation somewhere can actually help. I would probably ask a guidance counselor about this.

There are already a few threads on this topic in the Common App subforum. Maybe you’ll be able to find the answer in one of the old threads— searching old threads is a great way of accidentally finding very useful information on CC!

After you submit your application. In most cases an interviewer will contact you via email to inquire as to whether you would be interested in an interview, but for some schools, you have to request one yourself. Some schools factor interview in the admissions process, while others do not (it only serves an informational purpose to the applicant), and you’ll have to look up the specifics on the admission websites of the colleges you have in mind.

Hi! I have a quick question.
Under academics section it says :
"Please indicate title, level (AP, IB, advanced, honors, etc.) and credit value of all courses you are taking this year (e.g. Honors English .5 credits). Indicate quarter classes taken in the same semester on the appropriate semester line . If you have already graduated from secondary school and are not currently enrolled in college, you should enter the courses from your final year of secondary school. "

Im going to be a senior this year, so do I put classes that I will be taking (2010-2011)?
just checking , thanks!
