Help! ED2??

Hi everyone,
I'm new here but I have a big dilemma. I have visited Tufts, and I really like the school, and I would probably go if I got in. I got deferred from a couple early action schools and I'm curious about whether I'll get into them or not (even though my GC essentially told me I won't). So here's my problem:
The reason I loved these 2 EA schools was the people--they are serious environments where the people are nice but also willing to have intellectual discussion outside the classroom, passionate about their studies, etc. I love Tufts, but I don't live nearby it so it was hard for me to tell if the people are like that there in the short time I visited. Are they? I guess it seems like a silly question, but whether or not the students are passionate about learning has been a big parameter in my search process.
The main issue here is that I don't think I would get into Tufts RD--I think my only chance to get in is ED2. And since I really like it, I think I should just go for it...but I thought I would come here first. (commitments freak me out; that's why I only did EA the first time around). I probably would have applied to Tufts already if I had known about it, but I just didn't really even explore the school at all until recently.
what do you guys think??
also, I don't mean to suggest AT ALL that the students at Tufts aren't excited about learning or anything like that. I simply don't really know the chemistry of the student body, and I would like some insight. :)

Apply RD. Unless you are positive that Tufts is your first choice it’s best to leave all of your options open. Imagine how you will feel if you get in to Tufts ED2 and continue to wonder what if about your EA choices. It’s not worth the binding aspect of ED2 to lock yourself in.

I agree with momyel. Apply RD. The only reason to apply anywhere ED is if you’re absolutely sure. And it doesn’t sound like you are. I don’t think your chances will be that much better EDII. But to answer your question, yes students are very passionate about learning in Tufts. I think it’s just the right mixture of school work and fun without cut throat environment. But if you’re not sure about Tufts it will come through on your app.
