Help! Fashion Design Schools - International student from an engineering background

<p>I am planning to take up Fashion Design next year and need help in shortlisting the best Fashion design Colleges in USA. </p>

<p>There are many colleges that are named when asked about the Fashion Design Colleges in US, like - FIT, Parsons, Pratt, FIDM, SCAD, CCA, Academy of Art University, University of Cincinnati, Kent state university, RISD, Otis college of Art & Design, School of art chicago</p>

<p>If one had to name 4 top colleges, what would they be and why? </p>

<p>I finished my engineering in 2011 and I know it people would be curious as to why i am looking into design courses now. Well i was always artistically inclines, and have been designing clothes as a hobby since my teens. I took up engineering because of my love for problem solving. During my undergraduation i realized my true calling is Fashion Designing. </p>

<p>I am not sure, if there are constraints for students from my background. Will i face problem to make the cut? Will i be grilled when they ask for a portfolio? Do i have to a bachelors course or can i take up masters? What efforts should i make from my side to secure an admission? </p>

<p>Please help me through. Would be grateful to here something positive! </p>
