I'm a rising high school senior and I have no clue where I want to apply.
ACT composite is 33
gpa is 4.0 unweighted (honors math classes, ap chem, ap gov, apush) and I go to a rigorous, private school
my extra curricular activities aren't great--volleyball freshman year, then field hockey, a few clubs (no officer positions), national honors society next year and I'm an officer for that, I write for the school paper, and sophomore year I was a student ambassador
I volunteer 2 hrs/week at Children's Hospital
I had a job sophomore year (worked 10 hrs/week)
awards--biology student of the year (freshman), chemistry student of the year (sophomore), student achiever (freshman, sophomore, junior)
I live in WI, so I will apply to UW-Madison, but other than that I'm not really sure where I want to apply. I need help finding some safety, match, and reach schools so that I have a good range. I would like a mid-size school, with a good amount of school spirit. I'm interested in majoring in biology or chemistry (probably pre-med). Thanks for the help!

do two things: go to the column on the left of this page and click on SuperMatch and fill in your data and prefs. This will help you get a handle on the several thousand schools we might suggest. Second, when you come back to us bring your answers to the first post on this url:

Might look at Holy Cross-top 25 school 1 hour from Boston. HC has great combination of academics/athletics and meets 100% demonstrated financial aid.

Just to stay in the Midwest:
Butler, Earlham, Lake Forest, Beloit, Illinois Wesleyan, and Lawrence would be good safeties with likely merit aid; St Olaf a good match (strong science program, summer internship with Mayo Clinic); Wash U, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Grinnell, Macalester and Carleton would be major reaches but you could apply to a couple.

These have all very different “vibes” so read the websites, read Fiske Guide/Insider’s Guide to the Colleges/Princeton Review’s Best Colleges, run the Net Price Calculators, and fill out the “request information” form for those you like and can afford.
