Is it worth it to have Florida Prepaid when you have the potential to get full scholarships elsewhere?

My son’s GF had a pre-paid and got a full-ride NMF scholarship, so she is given her pre-paid money every year in a check.

So, I don’t know why having a prepaid would be bad if you get a good scholarship. You don’t lose your prepaid when you get a merit scholarship.

What is your concern?

My primary concern would actually be that I would want to keep the Florida Prepaid money if I were to get a full ride of need-based financial aid. I know that I would be able to get full financial aid, so by canceling my account now I would be able to keep my funds instead of having them go to a college that would have given me the money anyways. If I qualify for 100 percent financial aid would they allow me to keep my money from Florida Prepaid?

Will you really be getting a “full ride” of grants of financial aid? many/most schools don’t really do that. Most put loans, work-study, and student contribution in FA packages. In such a case, your pre-paid could replace that. is your prepaid tuition only or what?

Where would you be getting a full ride of grants?
