Help for a future math major

Hi,

I am a high school senior with less then impressive stats (2.95 GPA Unweighted, 1780 sat 680M/590V/510W, 730 Math IC, and 750 Math IIC)

I want to major in mathematics. I love working with numbers and I excel in math classes.

During my first 3 years of high school I slacked off a lot and didn't live up to my potential (I still did very well in math classes). However I got straight A's on my first quarter senior year (Including AP Calc) and will get straight A's again the second quarter.

I realize that I don't have as many options because of my poor grades and I applied to 6 schools

St Johns University
UMASS Lowell
UCONN (I realize that I will most likely be rejected from this school)
UNH
Bridgewater State College
Hofstra University

I know that I have the ability to perform exceptionally well in college and I believe that I will.

I have considered going to UMASS Lowell for a couple of years and transferring to another school but I live in an adjacent town (Tewksbury) and don't like the idea of commuting.

Can you guys please provide me with some guidance as to what I should do (what school should I go to, should I transfer to another school after a couple of years, other schools I should apply to, or anything else you guys can come up with)

Thank you, your help is greatly appreciated

Chris

Your SAT scores are not bad and your gpa is
respectable.

Check out Holy Cross, Simmons, Wheaton (MA).

You might get into U Conn.

Thanks I'll definitely check those schools out...although Smith might be a problem for me considering I'm male.

Anyone else got some ideas

It's pretty late to start applications now. I think you should go to the best school that accepts you, and decide if you want to transfer later. I think all of your schools will have a decent enough math department for lower-level classes.
