Help for a mainstream story?

I'm writing a mainstream story for Creative Writing. It's not usually my favorite genre (usually suspense or horror) but I have to write something by next Wednesday. My idea was: a man is in a car talking to his brother. The protagonist is a druglord and believes that his girlfriend is cheating on him so he's on his way to the motel to catch her while she was still at the motel. The entire story is about him driving up there with his brother talking about how he's going to kill her and making up stuff in his mind. He keeps saying to his brother, "are you ready for this?" and his brother would always respond with, "It's going to come out ugly, but of course" or something along those lines. Yet at the end he finally gets to the motel and the girlfriend is by herself. You find out that the brother is the one sleeping with the girlfriend and ends up shooting the protagonist and says, "I told you it will come out ugly". Or something, yet I'm not sure if that will be a good story. Does anybody have any ideas to either help me with this plot or any other ideas for a different story? thanks.

Very interesting. I like it  I especially like the twist at the end with the brother turning out to be the girlfriend’s secret lover.

Really? Thanks haha I decided to add time regiments too to make it more suspensful. Like, what is he waiting for, what is he going to, etc… Keep the reader’s mind activated with ideas.
